Laughing boys and girls at the World Down Syndrome Congress
Coordinators and users from the 6 participating countries have represented the MOTE project in the 10th World Down Syndrome Congress that was held between 19th and 22nd August in Dublin, Ireland.
Some users of the MOTE project (Ms Sylvana Cassar from Malta, Ms Alexandra Szabó from Hungary, Mr Giovanni Grillo from Italy, Ms Orla Hanon, Ms Cathy Soden, Mr David Clarke, Mr John Sweetnam, Mr Declan Murphy, Mr Michael Gannon from Ireland) also attended the First International Synod, which event gave adults with Down syndrome an opportunity to meet their peers from across the globe and to discuss, in  parliamentary style,  issues that affect their daily lives.
MOTE project held a workshop on the 21st August where Ms Orla Hannon spoke about the general aims and activity of the project.
Then Louisa Grech introduced the decision making and voting process through a small game about colours.
Three users of the MOTE target group (Ms Alexandra Szabó from Hungary, Mr Giovanni Grillo from Italy and Mr David Clarke from Ireland) demonstrated one of the simulation games of the MOTE educational programme that models the voting process from the campaign to the results.
Three users of the MOTE project were representatives of three fictitious parties - Environment Party, Work Party, Peace Party.
Participants voted according to their preferences for one of the three candidates and were talking about the importance of forming an independent opinion and voting in the elections.
